Interconnect Cables

Superb price/performance value for your Naim Audio system interconnection needs, also for non-Naim Audio systems!

We do not make compromises

The goal we set for our AVO interconnects was to extend the musical performance of all eras of Naim Audio kit, at a level that competes with the top-range interconnects from other vendors, whilst preserving all of the original Naim magic.

The easiest way would be to search for ready-made wire, and terminate it straight off the reel with DIN, RCA, or XLR plugs.

After trying out many wire samples with excellent specs, it became clear that our desire for a well-honed and ultimately musical performance would not be satisfied by that approach.

To avoid making compromises, we applied many years of experience and all the time and effort necessary to create our own AVO wire from scratch.

The wire design and its build process took over a year to reach fruition, with Chris West scrupulously developing prototypes and testing them in a reference Naim Audio system before ultimately arriving at our goal.

Each version of AVO wire is expressly designed for the specific type of interconnect it’s for, such that they all meet our goal for a Naim system without compromises.

Every piece of wire is created by hand from superior materials using our four-stage process. All production work is done in-house by Chris West and Steve Kregling.

1) We start with the world's best Teflon Insulated OCC copper conductor cores, carefully hand-twisting them into a bundle with the exact number of cores required. For a Naim system that can be two or three cores for an AVO SIGNAL Interconnect, four cores for a POWER4, and five cores for a POWER5.

2) We encapsulate the twisted core bundle with an inner sleeve.

3) We then use a proprietary technique to wrap the sleeving with high-conductivity copper shielding that is impervious to noise interference. This is a very time demanding process that truly requires master skills.

4) The final stage is to apply the outer sheath of insulation. This provides a supple yet strong support that mates ideally with all kinds of terminations, with reliability that meets our expectations for longevity. It’s no use having great performance if a product is not tough enough to last indefinitely!

Once the wire is at this point, our soldering process comes into play in order to make our interconnects with the best possible plug terminations.

Our soldering process has been refined for terminating AVO interconnects.

It involves:

  • Solder that we’ve specially selected for the best sound.
  • Application of flux to plug pins to ensure full solder flow and joint strength.
  • The appropriate tools and techniques for the UP-OCC cores.
  • A special tool to hold the UP-OCC core firmly against the plug pins whilst the solder solidifies (ensuring excellent core to solder-pin contact, with minimal solder in between).

The finished interconnect is then tested, and listened to in our Naim Audio Reference System.

The combination of all the detailed production processes above result in the consistently superb performance of each interconnect we produce.

SIGNAL

AV Options SIGNAL cables are designed for use with Naim Audio equipment. They are a significant upgrade over the very good stock Naim cables and from other suppliers making cables for Naim kit. Our RCA-RCA and XLR-XLR cables also work extremely well with all other audio brands.

All cables are assembled and performance-verified under strictly defined conditions at our own facility.

  • In-house precision built wires for each cable are made in a 2, 3, 4 or 5-core version to exactly suit the cable type
  • AVO Deep-Cryo treatment for all finished cables-connectors (in partnership with Charles Beresford-Cryogenics International)

AV Options Deep-Cryo Treatment

AV Options, in partnership with Cryogenics International, offers Deep-Cryogenic treatment for our AC and cable products and for select parts used in our Naim Audio equipment restorations.

Cryogenics International is the industry leader in North America for Deep-Cryogenic treatment of audio related parts and products. AV Options has worked with Charles Beresford at Cryogenics International to help us implement our AVO Deep-Cryo program, which we launched in the Fall of 2014.

The Deep-Cryo Process:

  • Very slowly and precisely lowers the temperature to nitrogen's boiling point of -320°F
  • Purges air and moisture from the treatment chamber
  • Precisely maintains -320°F for over 20 hours, imparting the greatest benefit to components
  • Very slowly and precisely raises the chamber and components to ambient temperature

The end result is a much lower noise floor.

SIGNAL: Naim New Classic

We have designed versions of AV Options SIGNAL cables to use with the Naim New Classic range.

They are a significant upgrade over the very good stock Naim cables and from other suppliers making cables for Naim kit.

There is a balanced version to use between New Classic preamps and power amps. The rest are made specifically to interface between equipment from the legacy Naim ranges and New Classic preamps and power amps.

All cables are assembled and performance-verified under strictly defined conditions at our own facility.

  • In-house precision built wires for each cable are made with our 2-core version to exactly suit the cable type
  • AVO Deep-Cryo treatment for all finished cables-connectors (in partnership with Charles Beresford-Cryogenics International)

POWER4 / POWER5 Naim Interconnects

AV Options POWER4 and POWER5 cables are designed for use with Naim Audio equipment. They are a significant upgrade over the very good stock Naim SNAIC cables and from other suppliers making SNAIC equivalent cables for Naim kit.

All cables are assembled and performance-verified under strictly defined conditions at our own facility.

For POWER4 and POWER5, the appropriate (optimum) length in a Naim system is 1.23 meters. Longer runs are not recommended.
